Route Overview

The 8 Days Northern Circuit Route is one of the best Kilimanjaro choices for travelers who want a quieter and more scenic climb. The trail starts on the western side, crosses the Shira Plateau and then travels around the quieter northern slopes before joining the summit approach from School Hut.

Compared with Machame and Marangu, the Northern Circuit feels more remote. The 8 day version is strong for acclimatization, but the 9 day version remains the most relaxed choice if your time and budget allow.
