Flexible Tanzania travel policy
Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy
We know a safari or Kilimanjaro climb is a big dream and a big investment. This page explains what happens if you need to cancel, postpone, miss your travel date, or move your trip to another time.

Our approach
Our first solution is always to help you travel at a better time, instead of making you lose the value of your booking. This is why Serengeti Wild Tours offers a low 10% downpayment to confirm your booking and a clear rescheduling option if your plans change.
Simple promise: If you cannot travel after paying, we will help you reschedule whenever possible and protect your initial deposit according to the policy below.
How to request cancellation or rescheduling
All cancellation or rescheduling requests must be sent in writing by email or WhatsApp. The effective date is the date Serengeti Wild Tours receives your written request.
Please include your full name, travel dates, itinerary name, invoice number if available, and whether you prefer to cancel or reschedule.
Kilimanjaro rescheduling
If you booked a Kilimanjaro climb and later fail to travel for any reason, you may reschedule your climb within two years from your original travel date without losing your initial deposit.
Your deposit will remain attached to your booking. You can move to a new available date, subject to route availability, park rules, crew planning, hotel availability, and any price changes that apply to the new date.
Safari rescheduling
If you booked a safari and later fail to travel for any reason, we will request rescheduling with the lodges, camps, and suppliers used in your itinerary.
If the lodges and suppliers allow the booking to be moved, you may reschedule within one year without losing your initial deposit.
Important safari note: Safari accommodation is controlled by lodge and camp policies. If a lodge, camp, domestic flight, or special service refuses to transfer or refund money already paid, that supplier charge may affect the amount that can be moved to your new date.
Cancellation charges
Because every itinerary is different, cancellation charges depend on the services already confirmed and paid for. Park fees, permits, domestic flights, lodges, camps, hotels, and special services may have their own cancellation rules.
| Situation | What happens |
|---|---|
| Client requests to postpone | We first try to reschedule and protect your initial deposit. |
| Kilimanjaro client cannot travel | Deposit can be used for a new Kilimanjaro date within two years, subject to availability and price changes. |
| Safari client cannot travel | Deposit can be used for a new safari date within one year if lodges and suppliers allow the change. |
| Supplier has already charged non-refundable fees | Those fees may be deducted or carried forward depending on supplier rules. |
| Client chooses full cancellation instead of rescheduling | Refund, if any, depends on timing, supplier rules, and non-refundable costs already committed. |
No-show policy
If a traveller does not arrive for the trip and does not inform us in advance, this may be treated as a no-show. Even then, for Kilimanjaro bookings, we will still try to protect the initial deposit for a new date within two years. For safari bookings, the ability to move the booking will depend on lodge and supplier approval.
Unused services
No refund is normally given for unused services once the trip has started. This includes missed meals, unused hotel nights, early departure, unused activities, or route changes requested by the traveller.
Where possible, we will help adjust the itinerary, but supplier and park rules may limit changes.
Changes caused by Serengeti Wild Tours
If we must change your itinerary for operational, safety, availability, or weather reasons, we will offer a suitable alternative of similar value where possible. If a major change is required before departure, we will explain your options clearly.
Force majeure
We are not responsible for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, natural disasters, road closures, government action, park restrictions, airline disruption, epidemics, civil unrest, or other unexpected events. In such cases, we will focus on rescheduling, supplier negotiation, and practical solutions.
Travel insurance
We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation, medical issues, emergency evacuation, missed flights, baggage, and trip interruption. Insurance is the best protection for costs that suppliers cannot refund or move.
