Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing Packages
Choose a Kilimanjaro route that fits your body, your travel dates and your comfort level, not only the cheapest price. We help you compare Lemosho, Machame, Marangu, Rongai, Umbwe and Northern Circuit with honest local advice before you book.
Climbing Kilimanjaro starts with choosing the right route.
Many travelers ask for “the best Kilimanjaro package,” but the honest answer is that the best route is not the same for everyone. A strong hiker with limited days may choose Machame. A first-time climber who wants better acclimatization may feel safer on Lemosho. Someone who prefers hut accommodation may choose Marangu, while trekkers looking for quieter trails may love Rongai or Northern Circuit.
At Serengeti Wild Tours, we do not push one route to every climber. We look at your dates, fitness level, budget, comfort expectations and whether you want a private climb or a shared departure. Then we help you choose a route that gives you a real chance to enjoy the mountain, not just reach the gate with a printed itinerary.
This page brings together our main Mount Kilimanjaro climbing packages. Each card opens to a full day-by-day itinerary with route details, inclusions, price guidance and what to expect on the mountain.

8 DaysRecommended8 Days Lemosho Route
A beautiful route for climbers who want scenery, a calmer start and more time to adjust before summit night. It begins on Kilimanjaro’s western side, crosses the Shira Plateau and joins the southern circuit toward Barafu.
7 DaysScenic7 Days Lemosho Route
A shorter Lemosho climb for travelers who still want the western approach and wide mountain views, but cannot spend eight days on the mountain. It keeps the route beautiful while making the schedule more compact.
7 DaysClassic7 Days Machame Route
Machame is one of Kilimanjaro’s most popular camping routes because each day feels different. Forest, moorland, ridges, Barranco Wall and high alpine desert all come together in one classic climb.
6 DaysPopular6 Days Machame Route
A shorter version of the classic Machame Route for climbers who are fit, prepared and working with limited travel time. The route is beautiful, but the pace is tighter than the 7-day option.
9 DaysPremium9 Days Northern Circuit Route
This is the route for travelers who want more mountain time, fewer crowds and a slower acclimatization rhythm. It approaches from the west before curving across Kilimanjaro’s quiet northern side.
8 DaysQuiet8 Days Northern Circuit Route
A shorter Northern Circuit option for trekkers who want the northern side of Kilimanjaro without extending to nine days. It still gives a more spacious, less crowded mountain feeling than many busier routes.
7 DaysNorth Side7 Days Rongai Route
Rongai approaches Kilimanjaro from the north, giving the climb a quieter and more open feeling. It is a good choice when you want fewer people on the trail and a more gradual walking rhythm.
6 DaysCalm Trail6 Days Rongai Route
A compact Rongai climb for travelers who want the quieter northern approach but have limited days. It is less busy than Machame, but still needs steady fitness and good preparation.
6 DaysHuts6 Days Marangu Route
Marangu is the classic Kilimanjaro hut route. The 6-day version gives one extra day compared to the shortest Marangu climb, making it a more sensible choice for many first-time trekkers.
5 DaysBudget5 Days Marangu Route
The lowest-priced Kilimanjaro option on this page, using the hut-based Marangu trail. It is short and direct, so we normally recommend it only for fit climbers who understand the faster acclimatization schedule.
7 DaysDifficult7 Days Umbwe Route
Umbwe is steep, direct and dramatic. The 7-day version gives stronger trekkers a little more breathing room than the shorter option while keeping the route adventurous.
6 DaysAdvanced6 Days Umbwe Route
The most direct and demanding route on this page. We do not recommend Umbwe 6 days for every climber, but for strong and experienced trekkers it can be a powerful mountain challenge.

| Machame | 6 Days, 7 Days | Camping | Classic Kilimanjaro experience | The 7-day option gives a better rhythm than the shorter 6-day climb. |

Kilimanjaro is not technical, but altitude must be respected.
You do not need ropes or climbing experience for the standard Kilimanjaro routes, but you do need the right pace, enough acclimatization time and a mountain team that pays attention to how you are feeling.
Our guides focus on slow walking, daily checks, clear communication and practical decisions on the mountain. We would rather help you choose a better route before you book than sell you the shortest package and leave you struggling later.

Questions clients ask before choosing a route
These answers are written for travelers who are comparing Kilimanjaro packages and want honest guidance before sending an enquiry.
Which Kilimanjaro route do you recommend most?
For many first-time climbers, we recommend 8 Days Lemosho or 7 Days Machame. Lemosho gives a beautiful approach and more time to adjust, while Machame is a classic route with varied scenery. If your budget and dates allow, adding an extra day is often worth it.
Is Kilimanjaro possible for beginners?
Yes, many beginners climb Kilimanjaro, but it should be approached seriously. You do not need technical climbing skills, but you need walking fitness, proper gear, patience and a route that gives your body time to adjust to altitude.
Which route is best if I want the highest comfort?
For camping routes, comfort comes from a good mountain crew, proper tents, warm meals and the right pacing. For accommodation style, Marangu is the only route on this page using mountain huts. If your priority is acclimatization and a premium mountain experience, Northern Circuit or 8 Days Lemosho is usually stronger.
Which is the cheapest Kilimanjaro package?
The 5 Days Marangu Route is the lowest starting price on this page. It is short and hut-based, but because it gives less time for acclimatization, we only recommend it when the climber understands the faster pace. The 6 Days Marangu or 6 Days Machame can be better choices for many travelers.
Can I climb Kilimanjaro privately?
Yes. Private Kilimanjaro climbs can be arranged on your preferred dates for solo travelers, couples, families and small groups. This is a good option when you want a more personal pace, direct communication with your guide and flexibility around your travel plan.
Can I join a group climb instead?
Joining departures may be available on selected routes and dates. If you are traveling alone and want to reduce costs, send us your route preference and travel month so we can advise what group options may fit.
What is the best time to climb Mount Kilimanjaro?
Kilimanjaro can be climbed throughout the year, but many travelers prefer the drier seasons from January to early March and June to October. Weather on the mountain can still change quickly, so good gear is important in every season.
Can I add a safari or Zanzibar after Kilimanjaro?
Yes. Many travelers climb Kilimanjaro first, then continue to Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro or Zanzibar. After the climb, a safari or beach stay can make the trip feel complete and gives your body time to rest.
Not sure which Kilimanjaro route is right for you?
Send us your travel dates, number of climbers, fitness level and whether you prefer private or joining. We will help you choose the route that makes the most sense, even if that means telling you not to choose the shortest option.
