Discover a landscape dominated by ancient baobab trees and the largest elephant herds in northern Tanzania.

Often overshadowed by the Serengeti, Tarangire is a hidden gem that boasts some of the most spectacular wildlife viewing in Tanzania, especially during the dry season (June to October) when animals converge on the Tarangire River.
The park is famous for its large herds of elephants, sometimes numbering up to 300 individuals, and its striking silhouette of ancient baobab trees against the African sky. It's also a birdwatcher's paradise with over 500 species recorded.
Watch as massive herds of elephants dig for water in the dry riverbed or playfully bathe when water is plentiful. The interactions are mesmerising and offer some of the most intimate elephant viewing in Africa.
These "upside-down trees" can live for thousands of years. They provide dramatic photography subjects and essential habitat for many species, creating a landscape that feels ancient and untouched.
