Why Serengeti Wild Tours

Local experience, careful preparation and responsible mountain leadership.

Kilimanjaro is more than a route on a map. The quality of your guide, the pace of the climb, how well you prepare and how your wellbeing is monitored all matter. Our team focuses on those details from booking through descent.

Experienced local guides

Your climb is led by trained Tanzanian mountain guides with strong route knowledge, years of experience and a calm approach at altitude.

Preparation after booking

Once your climb is confirmed, we support you with practical guidance on training, packing, insurance, equipment and arrival.

Morning and evening health checks

Guides check oxygen saturation and pulse every morning and evening and continue observing how you are feeling throughout the day.

A supported mountain crew

We look after the guides, cooks and porters behind the expedition so the team can focus on professional support throughout your climb.

Safety that supports your summit

Safety is built into the climb, not added at the end.

Preparation begins after booking. In Tanzania, your guide completes a pre-climb briefing and essential gear check. On the mountain, careful pacing, morning and evening health checks, symptom awareness, emergency oxygen and experienced decisions are part of the expedition.

From the moment you book

We support your preparation with practical guidance on training, packing, insurance, rental gear, arrival planning and what to expect on Kilimanjaro.

After you arrive in Tanzania

Your mountain guide gives you a full pre-climb briefing, checks essential gear and answers final questions before the trek begins.

Every day on the mountain

Guides control the pace, carry out morning and evening pulse-oximeter health checks, discuss symptoms and have emergency oxygen and first-aid equipment available when needed.

The mountain team matters

A strong mountain team supports a strong climb.

Guides, cooks and porters all contribute to the quality of a Kilimanjaro expedition. We support our mountain team properly so they can focus on safe leadership, reliable meals, camp organization and attentive service throughout the climb.

That care carries into the guest experience: experienced leadership on the trail, reliable meals and camp support, and a professional team focused on helping you through each stage of the climb.

What this means for your climb

  • Experienced local mountain leadership
  • Professional support from guides, cooks and porters
  • Reliable meals and camp organization
  • Respectful teamwork throughout the expedition
  • Clear communication as the climb progresses
  • A mountain team focused on your wellbeing and progress

Kilimanjaro climbing FAQs

Which Kilimanjaro route do you recommend for a first climb?

For many first-time high-altitude trekkers, 8 Days Lemosho, 9 Days Northern Circuit and 7 Days Machame are strong routes to compare. The best choice depends on your available days, fitness, budget, preferred scenery and how much acclimatization time you want.

How does Serengeti Wild Tours handle safety?

Once your booking is confirmed, preparation continues with practical guidance before travel. After you arrive in Tanzania, your guide completes a pre-climb briefing and essential gear check. On the mountain, guides control the pace, carry out morning and evening health checks with a pulse oximeter, observe how you are feeling throughout the day and have emergency oxygen and first-aid equipment available.

Who leads the Kilimanjaro climb?

Our climbs are led by trained and experienced Tanzanian mountain guides with strong route knowledge and years of experience working on Kilimanjaro. They manage the pace, daily briefings, health monitoring, summit preparation and the important decisions made on the mountain.

How do you support a strong summit attempt?

We focus carefully on preparation, a steady guide-led pace, hydration and meals, morning and evening health checks, summit preparation and experienced decisions as the group moves higher.

Can I book a private climb?

Yes. Private climbs can be arranged around your preferred dates, while joining group climbs are available on selected scheduled departures.

Do you offer the five-day Marangu and six-day Umbwe routes?

Yes. Both routes are available. We explain what each itinerary involves so you can choose the route that best matches your available time, fitness, experience and preferred climbing style.

What do I need for insurance?

Choose travel insurance that explicitly covers high-altitude trekking to Kilimanjaro elevation and emergency evacuation. Helicopter evacuation requires suitable insurance and operational availability.

How much deposit is needed?

A 10% deposit can confirm your Kilimanjaro booking once the route, date and final quotation are agreed, subject to availability.
